Kona Family Advocate

Early Head Start Family Advocate – Kona – 30 hours per week.

Essential Job Duties:  Responsible for the recruitment of families eligible for Early Head Start Services via direct recruitment, community partnerships and activities, referral follow-ups, and other means.  Describes the program accurately to potential applicants and assists families to completer the application process.  Enters application information into the program database.  Maintains consistent communication with program applicants.  On occasion, accompanies Home Visitors on visits to meet families/and or establish and effective transition into the Early Head Start program.  Provides transportation to enrolled families to program activities, medical, dental and social services appointments.  Provides child care when parents attend some program activities.  Provides direct and supportive intervention to assist families in crisis.  Conducts and maintains vehicle inspections and maintenance logs.

Job Qualifications:  High School Diploma or equivalent.  Must be willing to work toward the attainment of a degree in Early Childhood Education.  Current Hawaii driver’s license and clean driving abstract.  Must have ability to operate computers and possess basic knowledge of MS Office Suite and database software.  Must have cell phone.

Prefer bi-lingual English/Spanish or Marshallese.
